Frequently asked questions.

How long can I expect to come to therapy?

The length of therapy varies depending on your unique needs and goals. Some clients find short-term therapy, lasting several weeks to a few months, helpful for addressing specific challenges or gaining practical tools. Others may benefit from longer-term therapy, allowing for deeper exploration and lasting change. Together, we will regularly review your progress and adjust the course of therapy to ensure it aligns with your evolving needs. Ultimately, the duration is a collaborative decision based on what feels most supportive for you.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you don’t need a referral from your GP to begin with me. You can contact me directly to schedule an appointment or a consultation. However, if you're seeking insurance reimbursement, it's best to check with your provider as some may require a referral.

Can I get insurance coverage?

Insurance coverage depends on your specific provider and policy. I recommend contacting your insurance company to inquire about coverage for sessions with a NIP-registered psychologist. Some policies may partially or fully reimburse therapy costs, while others may require a referral from your GP. I am happy to provide you with an invoice to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What does the first session look like?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your current challenges, personal history, and what you hope to achieve through our work together. This session also gives you a chance to ask any questions and get a feel for how I work. By the end of our first meeting, we will have a clearer understanding of how we can move forward and begin addressing your needs in a way that feels comfortable for you.
